Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to welcome back their overseas players, barring England’s Jamie Overton, for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) following the tournament’s resumption on May 17.Â
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the return of the foreign players as the franchise is yet to play their remaining two league matches against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 20 and Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 25.
The five-time champions would aim to end the challenging season on a high note. They are currently reeling at the bottom of the points table and have been eliminated from the playoff race.

CSK CEO Confirms Availability of Overseas Players for IPL 2025 Phase 2
The IPL 2025 was suspended on May 9 due to heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the Pahalgam terrorist attack and subsequent cross-border hostilities. Dewald Brevis, who had returned to South Africa during the week-long break, and Pathirana are now cleared to rejoin the squad in Jaipur, where CSK will play their next fixture.
As confirmed by the CSK CEO, all overseas players, excluding Overton, will be available for CSK as IPL 2025 nears its restart from May 17.
Sam Curran, Nathan Ellis, Noor Ahmad, Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway are the other foreign players in CSK’s squad for IPL 2025.
"All CSK foreign players barring Jamie Overton are expected to join the squad ahead of IPL resumption," CSK CEO said as quoted to PTI.
With CSK already out of playoff contention, the focus is on building momentum for IPL 2026. The revised IPL schedule, which excludes Chennai as a venue due to security concerns, sees CSK playing in Jaipur and Ahmedabad.
There will be eyeballs on Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel, who, alongside Brevis, have shown promise in a season full of disappointments for the MS Dhoni-led side.

Brevis, who joined CSK mid-season as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh, has made a significant impact, scoring 126 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 163.63, including a blazing 22-ball fifty against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
