IPL 2025 - “We Are Reviewing the Situation” - Arun Dhumal Says as LSG vs RCB Faces Uncertain Fate

The Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) is grappling with uncertainty due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, sparked by the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, and India’s subsequent military operation, Operation Sindoor.

The upcoming match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), set for Friday in Lucknow, remains in question as IPL chairman Arun Dhumal addresses the fluid situation.

Yesterday evening, the Punjab Kings versus Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was halted mid-game due to air raid alerts in nearby cities, including Jammu, Pathankot, and others. Officially, the cancellation was attributed to a floodlight failure.

Will LSG vs RCB IPL 2025 Match Go on as Scheduled?

The situation remains under review with IPL chairman Arun Dhumal emphasising a cautious approach after what transpired on Thursday.

"We are reviewing the situation right now. It is an evolving situation. We haven't received any directive from the government. Obviously the decision will be taken keeping all the logistics in mind," Dhumal said as quoted to PTI.

Regarding Friday’s match scheduled between LSG and RCB in Lucknow, Dhumal clarified,

"Yes it is on as of now but obviously it is an evolving situation and any decision will be taken keeping the best interest of all stakeholders in mind."

With no clear guidance from government authorities, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is vigilantly assessing the situation, prioritising the safety of players, staff, and fans. The IPL Governing Council is collaborating with relevant parties to balance security and logistical demands.

Players to Travel to Pathankot by Road from Dharamsala

Following the Dharamsala abandonment, players and support staff from both teams are being relocated to Delhi via a special train from Pathankot, approximately 85 km from the hill station. The teams will travel by road to Pathankot, as Dharamsala’s sole airport, along with those in nearby Kangra, Chandigarh, and Jammu, are currently shut.

As developments unfold, fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation on whether the LSG-RCB fixture will go ahead as planned.
