The BCCI on Friday, May 9, announced that the IPL 2025 will be postponed for a week following the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
The board then came up with an official statement saying the league is momentarily postponed for a week, and the next update will be announced on due course.
The board fell to this plan of action after previously calling off the PBKS vs DC encounter in Dharamsala due to cross-border firing between the two countries.

BCCI Chalking Out Contingency Plan
Meanwhile, a report in the Times of India said that the BCCI is mulling over venues in eastern and southern India as and when they decide to restart the season. As of now, amid the one-week postponement, BCCI officials have said that the next three four days are crucial in the context of an update.
“A week is a long time when it comes to such matters. The board is chalking out a contingency plan. But the initial feelers are that the BCCI is considering the rest of IPL matches in cities like Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru if the league restarts next week. If things de-escalate at the border, the board might also retain the original venues,” a source told the publication.
As things stand, the IPL 2025 is postponed for a week and the Indian and overseas players are considering going back home. Previously, after the called-off game between Punjab and Delhi, the BCCI ensured safe passage of players via Vande Bharat Express from Dharamsala to Delhi.
